The Ask :
Established in 1986, NCFST has been supporting Aboriginal children and families in Toronto for more than three decades. Our aim is to create a campaign that will highlight the services that NCFST offers and also help recruit volunteers and raise funds.
Insight:
Colonization, racism, social exclusion and lack of self-determination continue to significantly affect the health and well-being of Indigenous peoples in Toronto and beyond. This directly impacts access to education, housing, and employment.
So it’s extremely important that at-risk individuals have the right tools to thrive.
For the campaign to succeed we proposed a two-pronged approach :
1. Appeal to non-indigenous Torontonians to raise funds or volunteer time for the welfare of their indigenous neighbours.
2. Educate the indigenous population about the programs that NCFST offers for their well-being.
The Idea:
Support The Family, Protect The Children.
By giving the right tools to families, NCFST aims to give the best chance for future indigenous children to thrive in the community.
This is done through a series of welfare schemes as well as a re-education of non-indigenous people into the struggles faced by the indigenous community in Toronto.
